Well, as I sit, this New Year's eve day, it's 10 degrees with some ridiculously low wind chill. A week ago, we were in the midst of a 3-day winter storm that brought 10+ inches of snow and who knows how many inches of rain. The dogs loved the snow despite the 'snow balls' clinging to their fur. The baby couldn't get enough of the snow and why not, after all, she'd never seen it before. The older girl is old hat, when it comes to snow and could play in newly fallen snow all day. I, could live without it. Take a look at the pictures.
Now it's so cold that the baby is doing the tippy toe dance and trying to balance on 3 -- sometimes 2 -- paws as they become painfully cold.
Meanwhile the sun is out and the snow on the roof is melting on my steps and despite the salt, the steps were covered in glare ice and a new layer of the light fluffy stuff. I wiped-out! Now I have shoulder pain, back pain, hip pain, and I think I broke my ring finger. God I hate winter! Something that I need to deal with for the next 3 or 4 months! Why do I live in this state, again?
The dogs are stir-crazy and watch the outdoors, wistfully. With wind chills like these, there will be no walks as they both develop ice between their toes and frozen paws -- which leads to even more stir crazy dogs. Walking is the best! They love it, as they have developed "friendships" along the walking route. Now they only see me and occasionally one of my friends. They love to socialize so it's sad to think that they probably won't see their "friends" till next spring. As it stands, this weather will be this way for at least the next week...at what point does fetch no longer interest them?
